Accelerating Innovation with Mainstream Computational Fluid Dynamics

Exploring Dassault Systèmes' Range of CFD Solutions for Various Industries and Applications

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) has become an essential tool for simulating fluid flow and thermal behaviour across industries. The application of CFD can range from external airflow in aerodynamics, fluid flow in pipes, heat transfer in electronic cooling, and more. In this blog post, we'll dive into the various solutions for CFD offered by Dassault Systèmes and explore their advantages.

Dassault Systèmes provides a broad range of CFD solutions that cater to different industries and applications. During an on-demand webinar, the company covered two primary solutions, namely Flow Simulation on desktop and Fluid Dynamics Engineer on the cloud-based 3DEXPERIENCE platform. The webinar demonstrated how these solutions can be used to set up problems and showed their interface and advantages, using external aerodynamics as an example.

Flow Simulation on the desktop offers an intuitive user interface and delivers fast and accurate results. It is particularly useful for small to medium-sized businesses, as it is cost-effective and easy to use. The desktop solution can handle various problems, such as airflow, heat transfer, and fluid-structure interaction.

On the other hand, Fluid Dynamics Engineer on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform provides a cloud-based CFD solution that enables collaboration across teams and organisations. The platform offers advanced simulation capabilities, including multiphase flows, turbulence modelling, and combustion. Additionally, it comes with built-in optimisation tools that help engineers optimise their designs quickly.

The webinar also highlighted the different industries that could benefit from these solutions, including automotive, aerospace, electronics, and more. For instance, Flow Simulation on desktop can be used to optimise car designs, while Fluid Dynamics Engineer can help simulate the airflow over an aeroplane's wings.

As CFD continues to evolve and impact different sectors, it is essential to have the right tools to stay ahead of the curve. With Dassault Systèmes' CFD solutions, engineers can accelerate innovation and optimize their designs quickly and efficiently.
